Rotorua - Taupo

Reported by Harita Davies 5.0 km

A big thank you to Joe and his friends from the Lake City Athletic Club for hosting a talk about the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race at their clubrooms. Both Harita and Grahak have run the race several times, so were grateful to have the opportunity to share the experience with fellow runners and Peace Lovers!

On our final day we were thrilled to take part in the local parkrun, a free 5km race hosted by volunteers that takes place all over the world on a Saturday morning. The community spirit is very tangible, and organisers were also kind enough to give a shout out to The Peace Run before the start of the race ;)

As you can see, this course was spectacular!

We made many new friends after the race was over!

After the race we joined many of the runners and headed to Ciabatta Cafe for a delicious post run breakfast!

The womens team took a walk up close by Maunga Kākaramea (Rainbow Mountain)

After an afternoon of taking in the spectacular surroundings, we all met at the Sri Chinmoy Dreamer of Peace Statue in Tongariro Domain. Long time Peace Run supporter and local caretaker of the statue, Lorraine, (pictured holding the torch), came to meet us and share her wishes and prayers for a more peaceful world.

Only the peace-dreamers,  Peace-lovers  And peace-servers  Can transform the world.

-Sri Chinmoy

Lorraine generously hosted the womens team, and we were treated to a delicious end of Peace Run meal.

All our gratitude to Lorraine and the huge team of supporters, coordinators and participants who made this run such a beautiful journey connecting Peace Lovers far and wide!
