Trail, BC - Creston, BC

It is hard not to feel peaceful when you wake up everyday to views like these!

Our team begins the run into Castlegar early in the morning, but the sun is already hot.

Savita runs with the torch.

We stop along the way to take in some of the magnificent views.

Arriving at the Mir Centre for Peace, one can feel a tangible sense of simplicity and beauty. In Aboriginal culture it is said that the meeting of two rivers is a great gathering place. It comes as no coincidence that the Mir Centre for Peace is located near the merging of rivers.

We passed our torch off to Lea, who is visiting her Grandmother from Switzerland along with her little brother Theo.

Eileen Kootnesoff (back row second from the left) is the proud Grandmother. She was very knowledgable about the Dukhabor culture and kindly shared the history of the region with us.

Cara-Lee Malange, Manager of Continuing Education, was presented with our Certificate of Appreciation.

Along the route, a man stopped his truck to ask what we were doing. When we told him that we were running across North America for peace, he said "You're all nuts! But you're good nuts..."

We were delighted to visit the saturday market in Nelson, BC...

...where we had the privelege of spending the afternoon with Naami! It's not too hard to tell that she is Prapti's sister, which one is which?

Nelson enchanted us with it's natural beauty...

...and charmed us with it's colorful inhabitants!

Naami, happily sporting a new Peace Run t-shirt, leads us on the run out of town.

She is a natural runner! We tried to recruit her to our team but sadly she had other commitments.

Arpan at the old schoolhouse.

Running to Village of Fruitvale with the flame glowing.

The team relays the torch all the way, one step at a time.

It is a joy to run in this stunning scenery, it doesn't get much better than this!

Hills are to be expected when running in the mountains, we will all leave the run with stronger quadriceps!

Our team is greeted by Councillor Bert Kniss at the Fruitvale Memorial Center.

Bert happily carries the torch for peace around the building with us. He is quite fit for his age and now wants to get into even better shape after being inspired by the Peace Run. Next time he wants to get more people to join us. We are grateful for his friendly enthusiasm and encouragement.

Heather, a local runner just happened to be passing by and she stopped to hold the torch.

Arpan runs out of Fruitvale towards Salmo.

Sandro vaccums out our trusty R.V. in the evening...

...all sparkly and fresh after a spring cleaning!

We enjoy a lovely dinner at Creston's "Real Food Cafe". The Gazpacho soup was perfect after a day of running in the hot sun.

We are grateful to this wonderful restaurant which gave us a good deal on some great meals.

Lisa holds the torch along with the friendly staff. Thank you for the delicious food and excellent service!

Good advice at the Real Food Cafe.

Karen of the Skimmerhorn Inn generously offered a complimentary room to two of our runners.

The rest of us camped out for a more "in-tents" experience!

Natural settings like this can really renew you when camping out.

Another spectacular day in Beautiful British Columbia.
