Departing from Courtyard by Marriott who kindly hosted the team last night. Merise came out to see the team off and get a brief photo with the team. Thank you so much for a great nights stay!

Fresh and ready to go, the men's team did the first 19 miles to the school.

With the traffic in the morning the runner was well ahead of the support van.

Wilmington Friends School was our first school for the day. They had their assembly and the students had a presentation about Peace before the team arrived.

The Peace Run has been to this school before and some of the students had remembered our Peace Run song and actions.

With the help of these students the team taught the song and actions to the rest of the school.

Ms Julie Rodoswky – Head of the Lower School accepted the Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the school.

As the students left the assembly they all took a moment to hold the torch.

And add their hopes and dreams for peace.

Four students from the Wilmington Friends Upper School also joined the Lower School for the presentation. As the last of the Lower School students held the torch they then took a moment to speak to us before taking us on a run up to their track.

Each of them are runners, short and middle distance. They train 5 to 6 days a week.

So they kindly jogged with us to the field then took a lap around the track before sending us on our way.

Lilia Machado,Donovan Aldridge,Teacher Jim Ransom, Hannah Blackwell and Aaron Brick.

A wonderful send off to lift our spirits as we made our way the our second school of the day

Kuumba Charter Academy. Meeting students who participate in Track and/or are part of the Girls on the Run and Heart and Soul programs that they run at the school.

Girls on the run is for grades 3-4 and Heart and Soul for Grades 5 – 8. All focusing on physical fitness, whilst cultivating empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills. The Peace Run team was thrilled to meet with this engaging and spirited group of young adults.

The students guessed Arpan's State very easily.

Taking a moment of silence and peace.

Students were invited up to look on our big map and point to where the team was right now.

To finish we went downstairs and ran around the school through the streets of Wilmington.

With all the students we visited runners.

It was a joyful experience for all.

With the boys finished their running for the day and now departing to make dinner the two girls teams starting their running for the day.

Splitting the miles between us we all did about 6 miles in the cold and blistering windy spring day in Maryland.

There is no other journey
