The students of EB1 Francisca Aragão Primary school lined up to give us high fives...
They were already holding peace torches when we got there!
'Paz' is peace in Portuguese.
Sukham provided a valuable service by communicating the message of the Run in Portuguese...
...to which the kids responded with great enthusiasm.
Paz torcha...
Let's share...
Releasing balloons into the air....
We would love to have stayed longer, but there were lots more schools to visit...
....so we ran to Faro, right into school EB 2,3 D. Alfonso III...
....which warmly embraced us.
Here the children offered a heartfelt message of peace...
....and some well-coordinated dance moves.
Thanks, we really appreciated your efforts!
Peace comes from the heart...
Local athletes joined us for the next few schools...
School EB 1 de Alto de Rodes really captured the spirit of the Run, as you can see...
We are very grateful for the support of the local police...
Thumbs up, Portugal!
We all made it!
The runners then went to the Museu Municipal de Faro...
....where we were joined by the Mayor of Faro, Mr. Rogério Bacalhau
Team Captain Dipavajan Renner hands over the Peace Torch to the Mayor of Faro...
...who gave his sincere thanks for our small contributions for peace
The Mayor hands the team a letter for Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council
Our news friends held the banner...
The Mayor was only too happy to join our run...
Hello Olhão!
Olympians Jorge Costa, Ana Cabecinha and Helder Oliveira graced us with their presence...
...it seemed almost the entire town was joining the Run!
Escola EB1 4 de Olháo had balloons, peace shirts....
....and even their own peace flame.
Olympian Ana Cabecinha lit the flame...
the mayor received the torch
There were smiles all round...
This school actually taught us a lot about peace....
....and their enthusiasm had us buzing for the rest of the afternoon.
Thank you to our Olympian friends....
At the end of the ceremony, peace doves were released into the sky....
Thank you to this wonderful school!
Runner's fuel!
Watch out for the truck!
When we got to Castro Marim, there were lots more runners eager to join in the fun...
...who led us to Escola EB 2,3 Castro Marim where students of all ages were waiting to meet us
Their Peace Run banner was much bigger than ours!
P-E-A-C-E
