Nassau

Reported by Salil Wilson 16.0 km

This morning we had a long run through the streets of Nassau so some of the team, namely Luis from Guatemala, applied liberal quantities of sun cream.

Our DJ made sure the tunes kept coming.

The Nassau Police Cadets ran to the starting point to meet us - singing all the way.

Team shot.

The Police Cadets kept in time with lots of chants.

Some of the people who came out to support us bravely overcame various challenges in their lives.

Next we were joined by students from a local school.

We had met some of these children in visits to their schools.

As we made our way through downtown Nassau the tourists were intrigued to see us.

One of the local traffic police.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force took up the torch and led us through Nassau's downtown region.

Then the students took over again.

Smiles all around!

Colin Knowles, Oria's husband, ensured we stayed on course and helped with water distirbution and traffic control.

Some of the residents whose houses we ran by.

Cathy Oerter ran the entire way - we think about 14 kms.

Some of the younger ones hitched a ride in the back of Adhiratha's car - they seemed pretty happy with their new found mode of transport.

Ashirvad holds hands for peace.

Oria directed the runners as we approached the finish.

Jayashri gave us the peace sign.

Felicity, who had been filming our visit for most of the week, shares her wishes for peace.

On the DJ truck - if you look closely you can see they picked up quite a few passengers and jammed them into the front seat.

Back at the stadium - a very welcome sight as it was getting quite hot. Thank you The Bahamas for a truly unforgettable experience!!! We can't wait to come back.

The women's team called in for some well earned icecream to finish the day.
