Welcome to Serbia! The predicted rain had to surrender to the sun!
We started in a morning fog running towards Vranje ...
The local sport team was already waiting to join...
The local marathon team bravely carried the torch though Vranje.
A nice welcome by the mayor of Vranje...
The traditional performances were really nice...
Thank you Vranje for the welcome!
The next ceremony took place in Vladičin Han...
The children ran quite fast!
We were nicely surprised by a sea of flags...
The flags were bigger than some runners...
...a part of the local girls team...
Thank you Vladičin Han!
We met this special racing car: it can even cut wood...
The Serbian Peace Run poster...
Soon we arrived at the main square in Surdulica.
We passed the torch to the mayor...
Colourful shoes, colourful song...
How high can you jump while dancing?
Painting is a lot of fun!
Guess if they are from one family...
A nice run around the square...
See you again Surdulica!
The next section of our Run went through a beautiful region. Allone the uphill was approx. 20 km long. Thanks to our Serbian runners it was an easy task...
As we reached the top we arrived at the clear lake "Vlasinsko jezero".
Great running in nature!
Even with spectators...
All way downhill we arrived in Crna Trava...
"Downtown"
A surprised citizen!
All the kids had beautiful Peace Run T-shirts printed...
The representative of Crna Trava received the torch...
Can you feel peace in your heart?
Hey, I want to hold this torch, too!
I wish I could run with you...
Anybody saw my mum?
Let's dance...
Thank you Crna Trava for the nice welcome!
After Crna Trava the road became a real challenge. Almost everybody got lost. Even our navigation found funny ways...
...but the landscape was breath-taking. Especially uphill...
A "smiley" window...
...as we arrived in Gadžin Han, half of the village awaited us...
A brass-band welcome!
The mayor of Gadžin Han received us with kind words...
...excellent performances...
Thank you Gadžin Han for running with us!
...Niš...
A group of small kids joined us before we arrived at the main square. While we approchad Niš, an extensive program was in progress...
...a cheerful crowd awaited us...
The final presentation of the day...
...we passed the torch to the people...
Thank you Niš for the heartfelt meeting!
A really nice gift!
We took the oportunity to visit an exhibition of the special artwork of Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Peace Run. Some of the originals were on display in Niš.
Sri Chinmoy calls his artwork Jharna Kala - Fountain Art.
The day ended with the planting of 7 Peace Trees. Thank you Niš for the inspiring finish!
