The children, young and older, helped us to relay the torch over 20 miles.

Lisa Loughran carries the torch for a while. She is a teacher at the Moencopi Day School in Tuba City and coaches the children's running team. She also organized this event for us and just ran the Boston Marathon last month.

Kevin Loughran, with torch, and Delmar were among the parents who helped transport the children along the way. Kevin and Delmar ran a bit with the torch also.

It was a long, hot, dry and windy relay run to Tuba City.

Frank Watson takes a break from his motorcycle to hold the torch. He is handling his son Garth as he runs across America to raise money for cancer research.

Marci, Nicole, Heather and children Maiya and Dylan, from the Navajo town of Tonolea or Red Lake, stopped to share their goodwill and hold the torch.

It was a great group of runners who shared the torch in a our biggest local relay event on this trip.

Some of the younger members of the Navajo and Hopi team lead the way.

The little ones were speedy runners who found it hard to slow down.

Eddie and Kyle were among the more elite older runners from the Reservation.

It was difficult for us to keep up with Eddie and Kyle.

The group looks small in the wide open expanse of the high altitude desert.

Finishing up the last mile on a dirt trail to Moencopi Day School on the Hopi side of Tuba City.

This beautiful school has hosted the Peace Run many times in the past.

Steven, the gardener, has the children dig a hole to plant the Peace Tree in the grove of the day school.

This little Cherry Tree will grow along with the children as they aspire for peace.

Everyone took turns putting in a handful of soil to plant the Peace Tree.

Runners and peace lovers all joining in on the Peace Tree planting at Moencopi Day School in Tuba City.

Dennis, tired and hungry, ran the whole distance in the relay plus some miles before it, completing a little over an official marathon distance.

After the Peace Tree planting we had a very nice ceremony with the children and adults at the Moencopi Day School. They also fed us sumptuously.

Arpan plays games with the children while waiting for the food to come.

Each of our 14 team members introduces ourselves and our country of origin. We represent 10 different countries at this point.

The children were quite enthusiastic to participate in our song and other exercises.

Feeling peace and joy in the heart.

Lisa accepts our Certificate of Appreciation and a painting called 'Love the Children', by Sri Chinmoy, the Founder of the Peace Run.

Lisa and Kevin Loughran and their three triplet children, Brianna, Eddie and Wesley, who all graduated high school last week. They have all been participating in the Peace Run since 2001.

After all was over it was hard to say goodbye to our Native American friends.

Dennis plays in the 'sandbox' with one of the younger Navajo children.

Kevin shows us one of his antique cars after helping us all afternoon with the relay to Tuba City.
