Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run for
the International Day of Peace of the United Nations.
On September 21st, a very special peace-drawings exhibition named “Colors of Peace”, featuring artworks collected by Peace Run in schools around the world, was inaugurated.
In the past decade the Colosseum in Rome has been the stage for the promotion of high profile cultural and ethical initiatives. What better location to host the exhibition - 7000 peace-drawings created by school children from over thirty countries, inviting the world to share the vision of peace and unity for the future.
The exhibition was inaugurated with a ceremony held inside the prestigious Colosseum arena. The exhibition celebrated the 30th anniversary of the “Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run”, the longest relay run for Peace in the world and was attended by Government officials, Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Missions accredited to the Italian Republic, intellectuals and a delegation of school children.
The Ceremony also celebrated the United Nations International Day of Peace, that falls every year on this day. The Peace Run has responded to the United Nations appeal contained in Resolution A / RES / 36/67, which calls on institutions and civil society to celebrate the International Day of Peace and to promote it in the public arena.
The exhibition was visible to the Rome citizens and tourists alike, from September 21 to September 24, 2017. The protective barriers surrounding the Colosseum were thus transformed into a ring of unity by the thousands of drawings displayed there: a symbol of union and concord in the world family.
The initiative was sponsored by the Presidency of the Senate of the Republic, the Chamber of Deputies, the Presidency of the Council for Equal Opportunities, the Ministry of Schools and Education (MIUR), Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBACT), the city of Rome, and was organized in collaboration with the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum, the “Morano” High school from the town of Caivano and Arvalia Association.
A curious fact! Among the many schools that participated in “Colors of Peace” is a school in Buenos Aires, the Institute No. 8 "Coronel Pedro Antonio Cerviño", where His Holiness Pope Francis went as a schoolchild.

“COLORS OF PEACE”
Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run per l'International Day of Peace delle Nazioni Unite.
Si è svolto presso l'Arena del Colosseo l'evento inaugurale dell'omonima mostra di disegni di pace, per celebrare il 21 settembre 2017, International Day of Peace delle Nazioni Unite, in occasione del trentesimo anniversario Peace Run.
Quale migliore monumento del Colosseo, da anni forte simbolo per appelli di pace, per presentare 7000 peace-drawings (disegni di pace) realizzati da studenti di oltre trenta Nazioni con la mostra “Colors of Peace". Dal luogo prescelto dalla Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run (Peace Run) si è lanciato al mondo un invito a condividere un futuro di pace e unità con una cerimonia che si tiene il 21 settembre, data in cui ogni anno si celebra l’International Day of Peace delle Nazioni Unite.
Peace Run, la più lunga staffetta per la pace nel mondo, ha così risposto all’appello delle Nazioni Unite, contenuto nella risoluzione A/RES/36/67, che invita istituzioni e società civile a celebrare l’International Day of Peace e a promuoverne la conoscenza nell’opinione pubblica.
La mostra Colors of Peace è visibile a tutti i cittadini dal 21 al 24 settembre 2017. Le griglie che circondano il monumento da struttura di protezione si trasformano in un anello d’unione e concordia attraverso le migliaia di disegni lì esposti.
L’iniziativa è patrocinata dalla Presidenza del Senato della Repubblica, dalla Camera dei deputati, dalla Presidenza del Consiglio-Dipartimento per le Pari Opportunità, dal Miur, dal Mibact, da Roma Capitale ed è organizzata in collaborazione con il Parco archeologico del Colosseo, l’Istituto Superiore Morano di Caivano e l'associazione Arvalia.
Una curiosità: tra le scuole che hanno partecipato a Colors of Peace è presente anche l'Istituto N. 8 "Coronel Pedro Antonio Cerviño", dove ha studiato Sua Santità Papa Francesco Bergoglio.

The undersecretary stressed the importance of creating a culture of peace starting from the world of the schools and praised the Institute F. Morano of Caivano for their educational programs (in the photo, a delegation of students from the F. Morano High school standing behind the Undersecretary).
In her speech Ms Bianchi also highlighted how the Ministry's priorities include pursuing social inclusion between urban centres and peripheries through cultural projects.

Next was the launch of the "Peace Movie Award”, the Peace Run video contest specifically aimed at the schools. All schools can take part creating a video spot on the subject of peace.

The award for the 2017 edition, is a unique artwork made out of recycled polychrome glass, offered to Peace Run by the prestigious atelier ”Schiavon Art Team" in Murano, Venice.
An excellence of Italian design to reward another Italian excellence! The "House of Charity Foundation" in fact, uses a holistic approach to support people in distress, for a reintegration not only material but also social and cultural development of the disadvantaged.
