The women's team shares the Peace Torch and offer their appreciation for the very comfortable rooms at the Wyndam Garden Inn in Charlotte.
The men's team was very grateful for the spacious and clean rooms offered by the Homewood Inn and Suites in Charlotte as well.
Just as we were about to start our morning run out of Charlotte we met with Andrew, a local long distance runner who stopped on his way to work when he recognized our Peace Run car. He is friends with some of the runners who have run with us in the past.
Our newest team member is Vrishaketu from Canada who just arrived last night has a moment of silence before starting his run in downtown Charlotte.
Happy to finally be on the Peace Run here in North Carolina.
Our course was quite hilly on the sidewalks and shoulders of Route 49 south.
After running out of Charlotte we finally reach South Carolina. Kaspars from Latvia is running his leg of the relay and stops to take a selfie as he enters the state of 'Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places'.
We were warmly welcomed to the Marie G. Davis Elementary School in Charlotte by Student Counselor Caz Mohammed.
Mr. Mohammed leads us into the school auditorium where many young children and their teachers greets us warmly.
We offer our presentation to the children and have them participate in our songs.

One of the teachers and Principal Ann Marie Laszewski and some of the children accept our Certificate of Appreciation and a painting of 'World Harmony' by the Founder of the Peace Run, Sri Chinmoy.
Going outdoors the children finally have a chance to hold the Torch and make wishes for Peace.
Most of the children are quite eager and excited about sharing the Torch.
Looks like she may just want to keep the Torch.

At the end of the day we had a surprise visit from our good friend and ultrarunner Ray Krolewicz, otherwise know as Ray K. He drove 90 miles after work from another part of South Carolina just to visit us and share the Torch. Arpan and Ray have been friends and competitors together for over 30 years. Thank you Ray for your enthusiastic support.
