The meeting with our golden Olympians Matej Toth and Elena Kaliska took place in Banska Bystrica on the premises of the Dukla Military Sports Center. At the end of his sports competition career, Matej Toth became the director of this sports centre, which ensures the preparation of the national sports delegation of the Slovak Republic under the umbrella of the Ministry of Defense.
V Banskej Bystrici v areáli vojenského športového centra Dukly sa uskutočnilo naše vysnívané stretnutie s našimi zlatými olympionikmi Matejom Tóthom a Elenou Kaliskou. Matej Tóth sa po ukončení svojej chodeckej kariéry stal riaditeľom tohto športového centra, ktoré zabezpečuje prípravu štátnej športovej reprezentácie Slovenskej republiky v podmienkach rezortu ministerstva obrany.
Matej Toth won the 2016 Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro, and Elena Kaliska has even two Olympic gold medals from 2004 and 2008.

When we recently approached them, if they would like to meet with representatives of the Peace Run, they did not hesitate for a second, and were willing to share their message of peace, which we could then continue spreading. Keď sme ich pred nedávnom oslovili, či by sa chceli stretnúť so zástupcami Mierovému behu a zanechať nejaký odkaz alebo prianie, ktoré by symbolicky vložili do Mierovej pochodne, ani na sekundu nezaváhali a boli ochotní sa podeliť o svoje mierové posolstvo, ktoré by sme potom mohli šíriť ďalej. We have seen that we are on the same wave length and that both in sports and in life, it is not the successes or victories that matter, but the joy of self-transcendence and a sense of oneness with the successes of others.
Videli sme, že sme spoločne na jednej vlne a že tak ako v športe, tak aj v živote nie sú dôležité úspechy či víťazstvá, ale radosť z vlastného sebaprekonávania sa a cítenie vzájomnej jednoty s úspechmi iných.
We also agreed that today's world needs peace so much. And sport also plays a very important role in this, because it helps us to be in harmony with our body and soul, and that is why we should inspire young people to be involved in sports and thus to have a better and more fulfilling life. We strive for this through the Peace Run and the Peace Torch, which we bring to schools, municipalities and cities, to various sports and cultural events with the idea that peace begins in each of us. As the founder of the Peace Run, Sri Chinmoy, fittingly put it: "Try not to change the world. You will fail. Try to love the world. Lo, the world is changed, changed forever."
Zhodli sme sa aj na tom, že dnešný svet tak veľmi potrebuje mier. A aj šport zohráva v tejto otázke veľmi dôležité miesto, pretože nám pomáha byť v harmónii so svojím telom i dušou, a preto by sme mali viesť mládež k športu a tým aj k lepšiemu a plnohodnotnejšiemu životu. My sa o to snažíme prostredníctvom Mierového behu a Mierovej pochodne, ktorú prinášame do škôl, do obcí a miest, na rôzne športové a kultúrne podujatia s myšlienkou, že mier začína predovšetkým u každého z nás. Ako to trefne vyjadril zakladateľ Mierového behu Sri Chinmoy: "Nesnaž sa zmeniť svet. Neuspeješ. Snaž sa svet milovať taký, aký je. Hľa, svet je zmenený, zmenený navždy."
The program also included the Peace Run anthem, which we tried our best to interpret well, even though we were few ... its powerful legacy has echoed in Peace Run meetings since 1987, when the Run was founded by Sri Chinmoy.
Súčasťou programu bola aj hymna Mierového behu, ktorú sme sa zo všetkých síl snažili dobre interpretovať, aj keď nás bolo málo...jej mocný odkaz zaznieva na všetkých stretnutiach Mierového behu už od roku 1987, kedy tento beh založil Sri Chinmoy.
At the end we exchanged small gifts so that we could have something to remember this nice and very inspiring meeting.
Nakoniec sme si navzájom vymenili malé darčeky, aby sme mali na toto milé a veľmi inšpirujúce stretnutie niečo na pamiatku.
Matej and Elena promised us that they would take part in our Peace Run next time if we run through Banska Bystrica and this time they would run with us! Our dear golden Olympians, we take your word for it and look forward to meeting you again!
