The international Peace Run team is greeted with a warm Irish welcome by the rising Sun as they sail into Cork Harbour.

Our first school visit for the 2025 Peace Run in Ireland is Shanbally National School and we are greeted with high fives as we enter the courtyard.

Principal Nolan gives a hearty welcome to the Peace Run Team.

The school children pass the Peace torch and make a wish for Peace.

Feeling Peace inside our hearts.

It's time for some fun and games!

The children from 5th class have prepared some lovely poems to read out.

The school children wave the colourful country flags that they have made.

Guess where I'm from?!

Gianluca, our Croatian runner, is gifted the Croatian flag.

We present a certificate of appreciation to Shanbally National School.

We high five the children as we leave for our next meeting of the day. Thank you Shanbally National School.

Our next school visit is to Scoil na Croise Naofa (Holy Cross Primary School).

Principal Bowe accepts a certificate of appreciation from the Peace Runners.

Time to pass the Peace torch!

Thank you to Scoil na Croise Naofa for participating in the Peace Run.

We stop for a short coffee break in the glorious sunshine by the River Lee.

Spring is in full swing.

We arrive at City Hall for a special meeting with Lord Mayor Dan Boyle of Cork City.

Our European captain Devashishu highlights the importance of international friendship and harmony in the world.

In the Lord Mayors office we take a group photo and have the honour of signing the visitors book.

Offering our certificate of appreciation to Lord Mayor Boyle.

From City Hall we run through the beautiful streets of Cork.

We meet some very friendly local police men on the way. In Ireland the Police are called An Garda Siochana which literally means the guardians of the Peace.

We arrive at Elizabeth Fort where we are met by Laura and her very enthusiastic team. Laura tells all about the history of the this fascinating fortress which was first constructed in 1601.

Gianluca is imprisoned until he agrees to run at least 20 kilometres!

Even the old war veterans have become peace loving folk.

Chintamini, our Austrian runner, meets a mini knight who is happy to hold the Peace torch.

Look up!

One way to ignite the situation!

Example of the old style passing of the torch.

We meet lovely group from Bavaria, Germany!

Reflecting on what a beautiful day we have had in Cork City.
