Moss Landing - Pacifica

Reported by Sanaz Datubar, Tavishi Matthews 91.0 mi

We had a very restful stay at the beautiful Hotel Pacific in Monterey. We are most grateful to everyone at the hotel for their kindness and support for the Peace Run.

Kashef Qaadri from California and Helen Shearman from New Zealand, happened to be passing by and offered their support.

The team ran on Route 1 between Moss Landing and Pacifica throughout the course of the day.

We enjoyed running along the beautiful Californian coastline.

Many people along the way stopped to hold the Peace Torch and wish the team well.

The first ceremony was at the Santa Cruz Montessori School. We presented the School with a Certificate of Appreciation as well as an artwork titled "Unity" by Sri Chinmoy. The Princpal, Kim Saxton, holds the Torch in this photo.

We sang Sri Chiinmoy's Peace Run song and then taught the children the World Harmony Song.

Acompanied by teacher Susanne Schwarz, the children sang "Lean on Me" and "Rainbow Connaction" for us which were beautiful and touched our hearts.

We lit the Peace Torch outside and the children and staff passed it to each other. Many made a wish or prayer for peace.

The teachers took it in turns to run with the Torch.

The children also ran.

A final group photo with the Santa Cruz Montessori School. Thank you to everyone for your enthusiastic participation.

Our second presentation was at the Pacifica Girls and Boys Club. The children had prepared special works of art on the theme of peace.

We focussed on feeling peace and other good qualities inside our hearts.

Performing the World Harmony Run Song together.

Everyone had a chance to hold the Peace Torch.

The media attended.

DeeDee O'Gorman, Boys and Girls Club Director, is shown here. DeeDee thanked the team "for inspiring and enlightening us. It's been an awesome afternoon."
We are most grateful to the Club.
