Rarotonga

Reported by Stacey Marsh 10.0 km

Today was a Public Holiday in the Cook Islands with no schools in session.

With a day free the Peace Run team decided to take the Peace Torch from one side of the island to the other

Traversing the Cross Island route.

And it does cross the entire island.

Cook Islands has many eroded volcanic peaks,

with beautiful dense vegetation.

This track is popular with many people, and all wanted to hold the Peace Torch,

take a photo to remember the moment.

Many had seen the Peace Run, as we had run around the island yesterday.

In the middle of the island is Te Rua Manga (The Needle).

This is a bit of a climb to get to the top.

But worth it for the views.

After the team finished the cross island walk, the team went to the National Stadium. 30 years ago on this track is where the Peace Torch was first lit.

So it felt fitting to come again and run around the track and see where it all began.

Torch carried by
Abhejali Bernardová (Czech Republic), Frederic Ashcharjya Gat (France), Sandro Zincarini (Italy), Satyagraha Vladimir Salnicov (Moldova), Stacey Marsh (New Zealand), Uddyogini Hall (Australia).
