Bar - Sutomore

Reported by Devashishu Torpy 20.0 km

Our Peace Run today begins by an Olive Tree that is 2000 years old - the second oldest in the world.

Children from 'Srbija' Elementary School are there to meet us.

Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the Peace Run, composed thousands of songs. The runners sing a song he dedicated to trees.

Then Benjamin leads the children on a few laps around the tree.

Now the children lead us to their school in Bar.

The Principal, Josip Cindur, welcomes everyone to the school.

The students offer cultural performances.

Traditional dancing.

Gordana presents the Peace Run to the students.

Everyone closes their eyes to feel the source of Peace - in the heart.

Everyone holds aloft an imaginary Peace torch.

And stretches their arms to embrace the fulness of the world.

The Principal receives a painting by Sri Chinmoy entitled 'World Harmony'.

Each child is invited to hold the torch and offer their own good wishes for Peace in our world.

Yatkara, one of our photographers, poses for a picture in front of the Montenegran hills.

Dancers in traditional costume greet us at Kecec Elementary school in Sutomore.

Vettri from Guatemala carries the torch into the school.

Beautiful artwork painted by the children.

The dancers are ready to perform.

The International team today contains runners from more than 20 countries.

This runner is from a country which has more sheep than people in it. The capital city is Wellington.

This runner claims to come from the country with the best football players ..... not Argentina but very close.

This runner sings 'Old MacDonald had a farm ...' - a song from his country which has 50 states.

This runner comes from a country which is an island in the Atlantic Ocean. Half the island is on the American continent, the other half is on the European continent. Clue: this runner, Suren, is Ice cool.

Now everyone is invited to learn the world Harmony Run song.

Embrace the whole world! After all, we are all brothers and sisters in the world-family.

Palash and Bhramata demonstrate unruly behaviour.

These three runners show how we can express Peace through kindness and concern.

The students offer some very inspiring readings on the nature of Peace and Love.

Thank you for these special words.

The dancers entertain us with a dance to traditional music.

Passing the torch from hand to hand, from heart to heart.

These runners come from Iran.

A fine feast of refreshments and snacks is offered to the hungry runners.

Thank you to the Principal, Mirjana Lucic. What a wonderful school!!!

The dancers teach the runners some of their moves. Perhaps this will improve our running styles.

The dance teacher proudly holds the torch.

Our Balkan coordinators have done an excellent job.

More food, anyone?
