Dundalk - Belfast

Our day begins in Dundalk in Ireland.

Our day begins in Dundalk in Ireland. It is a rainy Thursday morning as we run into Scoil Mhuire na nGael.

Many children welcome us with their lovely art work as we enter the school.

The children are really excited by the Peace Run visit.

Mr. Quinn plays a beautiful soft tune on the fiddle while the children pause for a moment of peace.

Mr. Lyons did a lot of work coordinating the Peace Run visit.

Hundreds of children cheer us fairwell as we run out from the school.

The rain has stopped for our short run to the next school in Dundalk.

A group of older children of St. Josephs Primary school are eagerly waiting to meet the team and carry the torch into their school.

This young lady leads the way for the team into her school.

Children with bright smiles and flags have formed a welcome guard of honour.

When we arrrive we are treated to many incredible music and dance performances by the school children.

These students welcome each Peace runners uin each runners own language!

This very large group of violin players treated us to a number of musical pieces.

Time for some Peace Run Fun. Even the parents join in!

Sandra guides us through a beauitful visualisation exercise.

Principle Roz holds the Peace Torch and certificate of appriciation. She has done an incredible job at arranging the visit by the Peace Run.

Time to meet the childrens parents and enjoy a cup of tea.

Some of the parents has dressed their traditonal dress and look so elegant.

To celebrate the visit of the Peace Run, the school is inaugurating a beautiful Peace installation at the school enterance. The artwork was created by a talented local artist and represents Peace on an individual level, in the community and in the world as a whole.

As part of the ceremony the school children plant some shrubs in front of the installation.

Robert runs at top spead in the rain to get us to the next school in Newry on time.

We arrive at St. Moninna's primary school in Northern Ireland and receive a very warm welcome. We are treated to a georgeous slow air on the Irish harp as we enter the school

Our first port of call is to a beautiful little sanctuary at the side of the school where we plant a Peace Tree.

As fitting for the occasion the Peace Run presents the School with an artwork by Sri Chinmoy entitled 'Plant a tree for World Harmony'.

Principle Temple holds the peace torch with two students beside the Peace Tree. She is keen gardener herself and grows her own organic food.

Inside the children have decorated the hall with countless pieces of artwork for the occasion.

The school children perform a number of capitaving performances including some dynamic Irish dancing.

This young whistle player performs 'The Foggy Dew'.

We are treated to some scerene harp music for our moment of Peace.

This young individual presents with a lovely book of a collection of childrens art pieces.

We pass the torch to all the children outside before we say farewell.

The sun is shining so it is time to run!

The boys carry the torch through Newry.

And we meet this enthusiastic bunch of students.

Onwards to Belfast City.

We are treated to an exception meal by Wagamama in Belfast.

Thank you Wagamama restuarant for your kindness. The food was excellent!

A big thank you to Europa Hotel Belfast for hosting the girls team! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

And a heartfelt thank you to The Maldrone Hotel Belfast for hosting the boys team! We had a great night sleep and great breakfast.
