We started our day visiting the headwaters of the Mississippi. From spring water in Minnesota the great river travels 2552 miles to Louisiana coming out the Gulf of Mexico.
Preetidutta's search for the source comes much easier in the 21st Century.
At the entrance are information stands about the river.
A sculpture of the spirit of the Mississippi. The sign asks people to touch the sculpture to connect with the spirit.
The vast lake that heralds the start of the headwaters.
Lots of people visit this special sight each day.
A globe to reminder us of our oneness. In front is a map of all the major river systems on the world.
"Look where I live"
"This is where I was born"

Back on the road and the running begins.
Nice wide shoulder for us to run on.

Our flame tree.
Everywhere is lush with green.
And water views.
Fresh from swimming in the lake this friendly family stopped to take a moment with the torch and say hi to us.
Kelley Humphrey from Brainerd Dispatch came to meet us for an interview and some pictures for the local paper. Thank you Kelly for taking the time to meet with us.
Minnesota legends, Paul and Babe, with friends!
We camped in Crow Wing State Park. Beautiful forest scenery next to the Mississippi. A lot of mosquitos though. The thing about camping is its intents!!!
Little tame friends hunting for our food.
Tents all set up. Storms predicted through the night. This could look different in the morning!
